Legendary Kwaito star Mandoza has died at the age of 38.

Born Mduduzi Tshabalala, Mandoza died on Sunday morning after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May last year.

The multi-award-winning star – who produced multi-platinum hits such as NkalakathaGodoba and Sgelekeqe, and collaborated with Danny K on Same Difference – has passed away while on his way to hospital after he experienced trouble breathing while with his wife, Mpho.

Mandoza started his career as part of Kwaito group Chiskop, which he formed with three childhood friends.

He participated in the kwaito documentary SHARP! SHARP! – the kwaito story, directed by Aryan Kaganof and the 2006 rugby drama, Number 10.
