Gospel star Lundi Tyamara is no more

Award-winning gospel star, Lundi Tyamara, has died from stomach TB and liver complications in an Edenvale hospital in the early hours of Friday morning.

The Mphefumlo Wami hitmaker was moved to ICU on Monday after his condition rapidly deteriorated and he was put on life support.

Lundi, 38, was first admitted to hospital in December after returning from a trip to China.

“We will always remember him for how he brightened up our days with his God-given talent. Rest in peace,” read a statement released by the family.

Still deeply saddened by Tyamara’s passing, gospel legend Rebecca Malope said: “Yesterday [Thursday] I heard that he was recovering a little bit. But it is still a shock that he has passed on. Because sometimes in the back of our minds we hope that things can get better … don’t know what to say, I’m numb.”
