‘Take Me Out’ Lands in South Africa

Radio and TV personality, Phat Joe Khambule, will host a new dating show, Take Me Out, on SABC 1, starting on the channel in July 2014.

The new game is based on the British show of the same name, which in turn is based on the original Australian show Taken Out.

The aim of the show is for a single male to do his best to impress a line-up of 30 single female participants.

“I’m soooo excited. The really cool thing about a show like this is that it’s going to show us how far, or not, we’ve evolved culturally as a country, especially in relation to the relationships we have with the opposite sex,” Phat Joe said.

“I can’t wait to do some wild things on this show … involving straight people, midgets, sugar daddies, and closet homosexuals,” he said.

Phat Joe who is known for his irreverent personality, seemed to be the obvious choice for the channel.

“We are excited to see him outside his desk on RGB for a change and to have him running around 30 single ladies helping them select a perfect date,” said Dichaba Phalatse, SABC1 Marketing Manager: Entertainment.

Three rounds of eliminations will determine whether the bachelor selects one female participant to go out on a date with or whether he will leave the show empty-handed
