South African controversial TV personality, Nonhle Thema, is no longer the brand ambassador for Madison, The Heart of New York shoes, after she was overheard using some derogatory terms while on a trip to Botswana, which led to her contract with the fashion brand being terminated.
According to the shocked insiders from the neighbouring country, they overheard Nonhle speaking on the phone, and telling someone that the young women in Botswana are all “skinny, ugly and infected with AIDS”.
The Club 808 co-presenter, 34, was chosen to front MADISON’s chic range of heels, wedges, boots and flats, as she effortlessly encompasses the quintessential, fashion-forward MADISON woman, in June this year.
The shoe company released a statement on Saturday announcing their termination of Nonhle’s contract.
“Due to the alleged circumstances of this trip and its repercussions, we regret to announce Ms Nonhle Thema is no longer the brand ambassador for Madison, The Heart of New York shoes.”
Madison shoes will be donating R10 000 towards AIDS awareness in Botswana and will work alongside the OPTIONS brand which stocks Madison shoes in Botswana to raise money and awareness in regards to AIDS related illnesses.
