It’s been less than a month since DJ Zinhle and rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes announced the ending of their three-year-old romance.
Soon after the sad announcement, more speculations behind the sudden break up followed. And Radio and TV Personality Bonang Matheba was unveiled as the face behind baby Kairo Owethu Forbes’ parents’ split. The affair rumour Matheba, 28, described as ‘garbage’.
This week a picture of a lady nicknamed ‘Queen B’, having breakfast with the Cape Town-born hip hop artist, 27, who confessed his affair with Matheba to his now former girlfriend, surfaced on social media.
This angered the heartbroken mother of one Zinhle, born Ntombezinhle Jiyane, who decided to share details of their break up on her blog – Moments By DJ Zinhle – in retaliation.
Part of the 31-year-old DJ’s letter reads:
I have recently been confronted with a situation that forced me to think really hard about the kind of women that I want to become and the kind of legacy I want to leave behind….
A week before our daughter was born, I found out about an affair between Kiernan (the father of my child) and Bonang Matheba. I also received confirmation of all rumours through an honest conversation which I had with Kiernan, who confirmed that the affair had been going on for over 5 months.
I will always respect him for his honesty.
I have dealt with this and found peace with his choice.
After the release of our first statement regarding the separation I felt that there was no need to go into details about the reasons, however, after the continued public display of Kiernan and Bonang’s relationship as well as the commentary surrounding it, it has become important for me to affirm my power as a women, my strength of character, my continued focus on my work and my commitment to being a positive role model.
Never have I understood the challenges confronted by those women I delivered elaborate speeches to without fully understanding their pain. That being said, after a long period of introspection, I would still say what I have always said to every women who has come to me with their challenges and pain.
In response to Zinhle’s statement, Ms Matheba and AKA released their respective statements where they deny being romantically involved.
Here’s Bonang’s full statement:
This is to confirm that Ms Matheba is aware of the allegations made against her, and the media reports surrounding the matter.
We are taking these statements very seriously and are unfortunately unable to comment further as the issue has been handed over to Ms Matheba’s legal team.
We can however confirm that Ms Matheba is currently not involved in a relationship, as she has always stated. Bonang is solely focused on her work and the projects she is finalising to ensure she wraps up what has been an incredible year, with a bang.
Bonang is in good spirits and looking forward to the premiere of her E! News Special, which airs this evening on Dstv 124 at 8:00pm.

As a result of DJ Zinhle’s recent blog post, I feel the need to provide clarity on the allegations contained therein.
I would have preferred that this could have been dealt with privately. Break ups can be tough and emotionally draining for all involved. I would like to add that myself and Bonang Matheba are not an item and never have been.
My energies are focused on my career and my daughter at this time.
