Rapper Emtee joins Muvhango

Emtee’s name will no longer be traced only in South African hip-hop music industry, as the rapper has branched into acting.

The award-winning artist, 23, who started shooting his scenes two weeks ago, will make his on-screen debut as Malusi in the SABC2 soapie Muvhango in June.

“Acting has always been something I wanted to pursue. To be honest, I was never trained in it, but I’m prepared to learn as I go along. It’s a huge deal for me,” Emtee told Sunday World.

“I don’t have higher education background. I went as far as matric, but I fell in love with acting at a young age. I want to explore it to make a living and support my mom and family.”

Born Mthembeni Ndevu, Emtee said he played a young business studies graduate.

“He basically has a couple of his friends around him, including Vusi Mukwevho (Played by Raphael Griffiths), a buddy from his school days,” he said.

“Melusi is cool, very humble and down to earth, but is, unfortunately, a repenting criminal because while at school, he used to get on the wrong side of the law.

“His family was also not supportive of Melusi, neglecting him as a youngster, which landed him with ‘uncool’ friends.”
