The year 2014 has been amazing for the musician Zakhele Madida’s personal life, business and academically.
The stylish artist, known as Zakes Bantwini, had some memorable highlights to be proud of, which include graduating at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) as a Social Entrepreneur, as well as being the face of Mxit (a South African created mobile social network).
More interestingly, his other notable achievement was his appointment as the Executive Head of A&R for Sony Music Africa – a historical moment for a South African artist.
Less than 12 months since the appointment of Mayonie Productions founder, one of Zakes’ major tasks this year is to create a platform for music loyalists to enjoy new music regularly.
The 33-year-old Bantwini, born in Kwa-Mashu township, in the KwaZulu Natal province, will introduce New Music Fridays (an opportunity for music lovers, to listen to new music from upcoming and established artists every Friday), starting from 6th February.
“It’s such a privilege to listen to the amazing talent & new music that comes out of our continent and as the Head of A & R at Sony Music Africa, that’s what I will be introducing to you,” says the platinum selling singer and producer.
