Afro-pop group, Malaika, is no more. This is according Tshedi Moholo – the female lead singer of the award-winning band.
Although Tshedi, who is often tied up with her acting and international commitments, is available to record, it is highly unlikely because her band partner, Bongani Nchang, is nowhere to be found.
Speaking to Sunday Sun, Tshedi said: “I’m sure we won’t be going to the studio any time soon. I don’t know where Bongani is and the group is dead. I don’t know what’s going on. It’s a sad story.
“Many people have been asking me about him. Last year I was told he went to Sony to demand his clearance.”
Malaika has won prestigious awards locally and internationally, including the Kora Awards, Channel O Awards, South African Music Awards and the Metro FM Music Awards.
