Donald Moatshe is over the moon!
The multi-award winning singer’s previous album, Train of Love, sold in excess of 1.1 downloads – a historical moment for the South African superstar.
The excited platinum-selling artist – who grabbed the world’s attention with classic hits such as I Deserve, In Denial, Over The Moon, Your Joy and Crazy But Amazing – announced his milestone achievement to his 101K Twitter followers on Monday.
“BREAKING NEWS: “Train of love” album have sold in excess of 1.1 MILLION DOWNLOADS to date #THANKYOUMZANSI,” he tweeted.
Not many South African artists’ music have managed to attract such number of download sales, only a few could be remembered – including Mafikizolo and Donald’s former boss, DJ Cleo.
Speaking to The Juice, Donald, 29, admitted that this was beyond his expectation during the making of Train Of Love – which also earned him two Metro FM Music Awards, nominations at South African Music Awards (SAMA) as well as the popular American BET Awards.
“It was definitely something I didn’t expect from the album. I expected it would grow as time went on, but God had different plans for me,” he said.
“It’s been amazing for me to learn that I am one of very few artists in this country that has achieved the feat of over a million downloads. Artists like DJ Cleo and Mafikizolo. So to be mentioned in the same breath as them is amazing,” said the stylish vocalist.
