It is that time of the year where people reflect on their achievements of 2015.
One of the questions that usually trends this month of December – religiously known as the month that gave birth to Jesus Christ – reads: ‘what is your New Year’s resolution?’
While others are still counting their blessings of 2015, the 37-year-old musician Kabomo Vilakazi has already made plans for 2016.
Judging by Vilakazi’s achievements this year – which include the release of his third album, Sekusile, writing, producing and directing his first film, Droplets, which features more than 50 renowned actors such as Sello Maake ka Ncube, Clint Brink and Zikhona Sodlaka – one would be tempted to advice the award-winning artist to get some rest in the next 12 months.
Unfortunately for the multi-talented pride of Daveyton, Vilakazi, whose musical dream is to make a song with the American singer-songwriter Mary J Blige, his commitment to the art hardly allows him to take a well-deserved break.
It is not surprising to learn that his schedule for 2016 is almost fully booked. Admittedly, his New Year’s resolution is “not ideal” but the hard-working Kabomo being Kabomo, he will do it anyway.
What is your New Year’s resolution, Kabomo? “2016 I’m releasing my live DVD, my gospel mixtape & my house album. It’s not ideal to release all of it in year but I’m doing it anyway,” he revealed to his 167K Twitter followers.
Surely, it is going to be another busy and great year for Mr Vilakazi.
