Metro FM awards are back with exciting changes.
The SABC radio station has announced that the 15th annual music awards will include an award of R 100 000, to recognise musicians’ a contribution towards the growth of the South African music industry.
The announcement was made during the Metro FM awards launch hosted at the Maharani Hotel in Durban earlier on Wednesday.
Excited about new changes, station manager Sibongile Mtshali said that this addition was a platinum addition that comes with a lot of changes.
“Besides the introduction of the prize money per category for all the 22 categories, we are opening up to Africa with a new category that will reward and celebrate musicians from the entire African continent”.
The nominations for the new category will reportedly come from Metro FM listeners.
“We are going to engage in a listener participation activity campaign that will see one lucky African name that category.”
The Metro FM awards will be held on the 27th of February 2016, at the Inkosi Luthuli Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban.
Nominations open are now open and close on the 11th of December 2015.
